Transporter l’animal

  • Saisir toujours l’animal avec un tissu ou des gants épais. Jamais à mains nues.
    • En cas de contact direct avec l’animal (ce qui peut arriver)
      • Ne pas se toucher le visage ou mettre ses mains à la bouche
      • Se laver les mains +++ dès que possible avec : eau + savon + friction
  • Utiliser un carton (mammifère et oiseau) / terrarium (reptile et amphibien) bien fermé
    • Adapté à la taille de l’animal
    • Aménagé au fond avec une ou serviette ou tissu
    • Faite des trous d’aération sur les côtés, avant d’installer l’animal (si forte chaleur extérieure)
    • Pas d’eau ni de nourriture pour le transport
    • Recouvrir le carton/terrarium fermé d’une serviette
    • Bien caler le carton/terrarium dans la voiture
  • Risque d’hypothermie chez les jeunes oiseaux ou mammifères
    • Poser une bouillotte ou bouteille d’eau chaude (non brulante) dans une chaussette )
    • La caler dans un coin du carton
    • Pas de contact direct avec l’animal
    • A retirer lors du trajet, pour les petits animaux, pour éviter tout écrasement, renversement sur l’animal.
  • Règle d’or du transport
    • Silence = trajet calme, pas de radio, pas d’excès de vitesse, climatisation modérée
  • Rappel
    • Le transport d’un animal sauvage est interdit par la loi. (art. L. 411-1 du Code de l’environnement)
    • Une tolérance existe pour les animaux blessés qui doivent être amenés jusqu’au centre de soin.

  • Always grip the animal with a cloth or thick gloves. Never use bare hands.
    • In the event of direct contact with the animal (which can happen)
      • Do not touch your face or put your hands to your mouth
      • Wash hands +++ as soon as possible with: water + soap + friction
  • Use a well-sealed cardboard box (mammals and birds) / terrarium (reptiles and amphibians).
    • Adapted to the animal’s size
    • Cover the bottom with a towel or cloth
    • Make ventilation holes in the sides, before installing the animal (only if it’s very hot outside)
    • No food or water for transport
    • Cover closed box/terrarium with towel
    • Secure the box/terrarium in the car
  • Risk of hypothermia in young birds or mammals
    • Place a hot water bottle (not burning) in a sock
    • Wedge it in a corner of the box
    • No direct contact with the animal
    • To be removed, for small animals, when travelling to avoid crushing or spilling on the animal.
  • Golden rule of transport
    • Silence = quiet journey, no radio, no speeding, moderate air conditioning
  • Reminder
    • Transporting wild animals is forbidden by law. (art. L. 411-1 of the French Environment Code).
    • A tolerance exists for injured animals, which must be taken to a care center.
